Greetings!
I am a new civilian member to this group. I came across the group and forum today while studying a special operations K9 story posted on Facebook.
My background and experience is in accounting, retail and logistics, transportation, and education. For the past several years, I have made a living teaching college level accounting and doing income taxes.
Several family members and members of my extended family members have served or are currently serving in the military and one or two have been members of the special forces community.
I am particularly interested in Special Forces, SWAT, and K9; the history and activities of the units; and the weapons and tactics used.
I am not a candidate or wannabe for either group, but probably could be described as a researcher or a guy who would write a history of the units or articles about the units.
During my time in the corporate world, I did considerable work along the lines of a "technologist", working with both IT and technical experts and key people in the operational side to develop new tools and find solutions to problems and needs. To some extent, this has continued, as some friends and I are researching and developing some tactical products that will reduce liability in law enforcement and have the potential to reduce injury or death in both the law enforcement community and in military operations. I look at existing and developing technology and look for ways to apply it in an affordable manner to solve current needs and develop new options.
Bottom line - I don't pay taxes to hire law enforcement and members of the military to be shot up by the bad guys. At least one citizen has heard more than enough of that and is working to help law enforcement officers and members of the military return safely to home or base at the end of their duty. I have to do this in my spare time, unfortunately, but hope at some point to be able to devote more time and resources to the projects.
