My name is Shawn and I live in southeast louisiana. I am currently an 18 year old senior in high school and I have dreamed of serving in the military my entire life. Firstly, I would just like to extend my thanks to all servicemen and women on this forum for their service and sacrifices for this nation. With that being said, I am here because I want to follow in their footsteps.
A couple of years ago, I was at an all time low in my life. I was getting bullied, always sick, grades were horrendous, no friends, no life, out of shape, and just about anything else you can possibly think of that could go wrong for a sophmore in high school was going wrong. Towards the end of the year, I was doing a little reading and came across something called Pararescue. The more I read about them, the more I was hooked. I wanted to see what I was capable of. I WANT to see what I'm capable of. When I started out, I couldn't do a single situp. Couldn't even do a knee pushup. Two years later and I'm in the best shape of my life and everything is so much better. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure if Pararescue is what I really want, but what I do know is I want a challenge. I want to be a medic. I want to help people. I want to be hard. I want to BE more. I'm grateful for this change in my life and it's all because of a little research a couple of years ago.
And thanks to all SOF on these forums. I've done a little research already and I've already found excellent information on just about anything I want to know. I didn't mean to rant but in a nutshell that's how and why I'm here. Again, thank you all for your service and God Bless!
