To all,

My name is Alex; I am currently active duty U.S Air Force. My AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code, or MOS) is 3P051 Security Forces (Submitted my info to be vetted this morning). My day to day duties for those of you not familiar with the job are very similar to an Army MPs. Typically I am armed with either an M9 and M4 or occasionally an M249. I perform a variety of duties on a day to day basis ranging from law enforcement, entry controller duties, and integrated base security.

I am a TACP hopeful. I want to cross train when my window opens up in June 2015.
I have not been to any “cool guy” schools or had any “high speed” training. I am here to learn and feed off the motivation of others. I respect all fellow service members, past, and current, especially those in the SOF community.

Thanks for your time,
Alex

Welcome to SS, Alex. USAF Security forces had the longest days of just about any AFSC. Back in the day, it was a twelve hour shift. It meant twelve hours on post/duty station. It did not include the time taken to pick up arms, and ammo, inspections, and any duty briefs. Also uncounted, was the time needed to return weapons & ammo. The bases I was assigned to, or spent any IG time at, only had a couple of folks at the armory to issue/ check-in weapons. As with all LEO folks, under paid, and under appreciated. Best of luck, Alex.

Thank you everyone!

And yes Red Flag 1, I'm currently in "12s" which equates to sometimes +14 hour shifts. But it is only time, it's not the kind of challenge I want.

Again, thank you to everyone that took the time to reply. I appreciate it and will do my best to follow to forum rules and soak up all the knowledge I can.

Alex
