Greetings Shadowspear Community,

First let me express my immense respect for both the experienced members of the SOF community as well as the you other new guys like myself working towards trying to get into this elite group. I am a 26 year old SGT in the GA ARNG 5 years TIS, 1 OEF deployment with an engineer company as a 12N Heavy Equipment Operator. I found the SS website seeking information and guidance regarding attending the 20th Special Forces Group's SFRE. After reviewing the criteria I believe I meet all eligibility requirements to attend SF training or even if possible get over to the 20th first in a support skill role if it would help my chances of selection.

Currently I am in the West Georgia area and am looking to try and link up with anyone willing to speak with me in the mentorship program or possibly find a training partner. My belief is that I know what I am getting myself into, I may be mistaken but I do enjoy training and am physically fit and motivated. I believe in what SF does and want to serve in a capacity where I can make a difference.

My 25 meter target is getting a slot and attending the next SFRE(I just missed Alabama's in September). Anyone have any advice or info they could provide regarding life in SF, NG SF groups, or heck even just a motivating story would be great, I'm hear to listen and learn. Thanks again guys.

Welcome to the site!

There is a multitude of knowledge here for you to read before you even have to ask your first question.

Good luck with your future plans...I wish you the best success.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I've spent a fair amount of time reading up on here and over at ProfessionalSoldiers.com(no profile) seems a quick way to get your feelings hurt is to jump on here and start asking questions that have been beaten into the ground. I agree you guys have made available all the info needed to set someone up for success, keep up the good work.
