I have served six years going on seven in July in the Army Reserves. Four of those years I was assigned to headquarters in an engineering battalion. The remaining time has been split between initial entry training for both ROTC and enlisted IET. My primary duty position has been functioning as a 68W Healthcare Specialist. My family is my main motivation in my decision to pursue a lifestyle in professional soldiering. Overall I truly respect and admire those who choose to give it their all in everything they do. I have experienced this through friends involved in the community as well as my own attempts, struggles, losses and victories. The more I read, the more I am drawn to the type of person who characterizes the spirit of the fighting man. They strive to be excellent in every aspect of life and are humble in practice. They believe in ideals and are not beyond reasoning through any matter. They encourage others to be the best and shun the idea of giving up. If they cannot solve a problem one way, they find another way to solve it. They make no excuse for themselves and live authentically. They put the welfare of others at the forefront of their minds. They mostly go unnoticed to the rest of the world, but they don't care. They get all the recognition they need from a job well done and the brothers and sisters that make up the family.
