Hello all. I'm currently serving as an Army EOD officer but will be separating to pursue medicine. I'm leaning towards military medicine and have been reading as much as I can on the recent cuts/plans and how that might affect military medicine as a whole. Long term, I would like to try out for positions in SORTs (soon to be FRST?) in the Army or SOSTs in the Air Force.

What is SORT and FRST? I’ll be watching your other posts of this type.
Special Operations Resuscitation Team and Forward Resuscitation Surgical Team. I believe these are the Army's counterpart to the Air Forces Special Operations Surgical Team (SOST). These guys typically undergo a bit more tactical training and support SOF units.

SORT, back in the day, was Resuscitation only. SOST (SOST/SOCCET at the time) trained with them and was co-located with them in Farah for several months. That was 10 years ago so not sure how they have evolved.

Thank you for clarifying. Certainly old because I pulled my SORT knowledge from an old study about special operations medicine. Seems the Army evolved a bit to have a broader capability.
