Whats up folks, so basically I've been real interested in looking at the Army's 18xray program for SF. The only problem is I have a juvenile record (felonies) and was incarcerated from 2016 (when I was 16) and am due for release from this current facility around my 19th birthday in August . I'm seriously looking for a career path and to change my life around. I felt that going after SF would be good because it would be a good challenge for me and would keep me active and heavily engaged. I talked with a recruiter and explained to him my situation but he seemed hesitant and kept veering around answering the questions I had, thought he was interested in me coming in upon my release. I was hoping I could get some input on here on what I could do, how to deal with the recruiters, or what my other potential options would be.

Thanks.

One tragedy at at time.

You need your recruiter to tell you straight out:

1) Can I even join the Army with my background?
2) Would there be any restrictions on what I could do?
3) Have you taken the ASVAB yet? If not, that might be a good idea as well.

Thanks for the advice, sounds like my best route. I also plan on having my probation prepare a recommendation for me which I hope would help.

I would not begin to advise you on SF, but before the SOF guys on the site can try to help you, you need to let them know if you are 100% certain you can even get into the Army.
