My team got resupplied once a week by 46, wherever we were...and the helo crew chiefs would sometimes toss us a big can of D-rat bacon. We'd fry it up over C4 and put it on "Gook Bread"... It was a great treat from C-rats all the time. I rode in them everywhere I was stationed. Another legendary aircraft is retired.

Just last week I was talking with my wife and son about the many flights I took on one of those birds. It was always my favorite. I use to love the flights we took from island to island when I was at Kaneohe. Some of the best flights of my time in.

Faithful birds...I hate to see them go.
