Let's see that shooter

I'm having a hard time learning to love the new generation of big, box shaped "micro" red dots...

Do you like it?
Why?
What makes it 'better' than the outgoing trend of "smaller for EDC" red dots?
Are you firmly in "team enclosed dot" or do you find yourself trying to get used to it?

I don't like them. it's easier for me to find the dot when the viewing aperture is larger. I also think the squared-off optics give my guns a "cyber truck" look. Do not like.

I was Team RMR for a very long while. Long story short I was bullied to trying the ACRO P2 and my times were strangely faster and I cannot fathom why for the life of me. However it's not stupid if it works, right? Function over form, correct? My presentations never changed or were enhanced. My only logical thought deduction is that the dot is at a lower 1/3 and this is definitely my jam dot sight height.

It's easier to clear a Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 malfunctions.

I don't carry duty sized guns for EDC, but this point is rather moot about the size of the red dot housing when I already carry appendix which makes it completely hidden. Strong side carry, I can actually see it becoming a real printable issue.

I carry enclosed because of two anecdotal events that occurred with me:

1. Rain during a match had turned the RMR into a rain bucket of sorts and my emitter was no longer emitting until it was all gone. I was reading reports of it happening to the AMU with their Delta Point Pro's but wasn't bothered because I had biased issues with the DPP to begin with. That was until it happened finally to me.

2. During a class the instructor having been a high speed type had us shooting from weird positions and some low to the ground. Mud had gotten in making it unusable.

So with an enclosed I no longer get these problems to solve, I just wipe the debris off the rear and if my front lens is obstructed I do the occluded sighting and keep firing.

My transition to dots on handguns wasn't hard to get used to at all other than having to relearn how to do a better presentation after gripping and rotating before presenting. There's a video out there of Larry Vickers articulating this way more advanced with enunciation on the whole process from start to finish with a red dot.
