Let's see that shooter

I did ok fiddling with bolts, even some pistols, but for some reasons ARs gave me fits.

I typed everything in past tense for a reason, I have gotten rid of 90% of my guns and now just have a few because I don't shoot like I used to and now what I have is strictly for home/self defense.
Same here. I still have a few of my own that I shoot and tool around with, but now they're mostly just tools to me. My dad and I shared the hobby. We built, shot, and collected firearms until he passed in summer 2024 at 83 years old. After he passed, I lost the drive to build and work on them. Sold a bunch of mine, and sold most of pops guns for my mom. As an heirloom, I kept his .44 magnum he bought in the early 70's when the Dirty Harry movie came out. Its the gun we used to shoot together just to blow the shit outta stuff and laugh about it.

What did you get?
CAT RAT Ti Flow and Stealth Additive Works Tisha 556.

Dropped off the uppers that these two are going on as dedicated cans. I hate rocksett removal and I had another can that was carbon locked (B&T Print SC 556), so took care of it all in one shot right after pickup of both cans.

I didn't know that two different trusts can be done on the same 4473.

Anybody have opinions or experience with the Smith & Wesson Shield X? I'm a fan of the Shield series and looking at possibly getting the 9mm....
Great design, good company, nice barrel length and slim line, but guns this thin do need IMO some grip tape. Every slim Glock and S&W Shield slims have all needed grip tape. But I like having that stuck in my hands feeling to maintain functional control for faster follow up shots.

I say go for it and give us a range report please.

I have an older Shield 45 - wife had a Shield EZ .380 - I've put quite a few rounds through a Shield Plus.
They are great guns. I think the Shield-X is little more than a "Plus" with a few tweaks and a couple extra rounds in the magazine.

I stopped carrying my .45 for the single reason that the grip texture was so aggressive that wearing it in an Appendix IWB holster was like lining my drawers with course grit sandpaper. Otherwise, I loved it. My wife also has a Glock 43' but she doesn't like it near as much as she likes her Shield.
Even though my wife LOVES her EZ-380, she has recently taken to carrying a Sig 365

I lean hard into Glock but if I had to choose between a 365, a 43x, and a Shield-X then I'd be carrying a 365 and I'd never look back

...wanting more rounds and something a little easier and quicker to rack.

Wanting more rounds is something I've learned to live with. In the summer months when I am usually wearing a polo or a t-shirt, I carry a 5 shot snub-nosed revolver...
My Shield on the other hand carries as many rounds as that big heavy Army gun that every body keeps saying "won two world wars"

The main downside I had on the Shield is that the "slide lock" doesn't really serve as a "slide release" in most cases so if you aren't used to using the "slingshot method" during a rapid reload - it is my opinion that you WILL have issues getting used to "relearning" the slingshot method.
The grip texture and the need to "slingshot" the slide during a slide lock reload are why I switched to a G26 (and may even buy a 365 like my wife has)

I've got one that depending on what magazine, holds everything from 17 to 26 rounds of 9x19 😁

Also, when I use the M45 in Battlefield 6 and get a kill, there may or may not be an in game chat sent to all with the words: Two World Warz.
