Alright, as my other posts may indicate... I want to be a SEAL, and in fact I have wanted this for 5 or 6 years now. It all started when I read Lone Survivor for the first time and I had this gut feeling, a calling, if you will. Since then I have trained a ton be it rucking, running, swimming, calisthenics or other generic work outs. I have read every single book out there about/by Navy SEAL's (forgive this last year or so, I am sure new ones are still being written).
I want to be a SEAL because I love tough as hell workouts, and challenging myself, and every aspect of the job excites me. I want to see what I am made of.
I have talked to a recruiter once, but since I was over 2 years out I couldn't receive medical or really talk to anyone. I have taken a mock PST, the scores are posted in my last post but here they are anyway.

Swim (500m): 9:44
Pushup (2 minute) : 91
Sit up (2 minute) : 108
Pull up (max) : 30
Run (1.5 mile) : 10:30

I have started learning CSS with some success, I am still critiquing myself.
I am studying Security & Intelligence at The Ohio State University and minoring in Russian.
I live in Columbus Ohio. - Sorry for stating the obvious to those who know where OSU is.

I want a mentor because I have questions, and honestly if said mentor lived close and had the time, I would love for someone to train me occasionally. I am asking a lot but really I will take anything that said mentor would be willing to give me. Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Jack

JPL,
I think its awesome you want to be a SEAL. I am sure there are lots of guys looking for mentors to help them become a SEAL. Maybe contact administration about getting a SEAL mentor group together if they have any verified SEALs that are willing to participate.

We don't have too many SEALs around on the site unfortunately.

Guess they are not as easy to come by. Pararescue training would be pretty similar to SEAL training though, right? In regard to Indoc and BUD/S at least.

If so, JPL, check out some PJ stuff, Amlove21 has a mentor group going, lots of informative articles in that group.

All SOF selections take basically the same thing. The ability to move long distances under stress. Sometimes that stress is time, sometimes it is weight, sometimes it is the water.

Forums - OFFICIAL U.S. NAVY SEAL + SWCC TRAINING FORUM

Hopefully this helps. Lots of help on there and they can help you get in touch with a mentor. Contact Scott Williams (pretty sure that is his name) on that forum and ask him what you need to do

Thanks for the link, I am actually well versed with that website. I use it frequently. I was told by my recruiter that after I go to MEPS they will start looking for a mentor for me, the problem is, is that that is a couple of years away. Also with few exceptions, that forum is people in my shoes, people who bounce ideas off of one another, rarely actually receiving any advice from SEALs. There aren't many former SEALs on there either... Too busy working for Penguin I guess.
So I guess at some point I will have my mentor, just a couple of years down the line. I was just trying to see if I could get into contact with someone sooner.
Anyway, thank you for all those who replied, I really appreciate you taking the time to try to help me out!
