Goodafternoon guys I just got off the phone with a MARSOC recruiter who said that I had too much time in grade as a Sgt. So my next question: Is that that the official no or is it still possible to try and send up a package with letters of recommendation.( Im not trying to undermind the MDO but Ive realized that this is what I really want to do and can do it) If not, is there anyway to lat move into an mos that works with SF ex JTAC's or getting into another branches SF.by the time im done with this tour I should be a SSGT. just needed to know what options i had (274 pft, 285cft, tread water 30min)

update:

My chief instructor called up the screeners office, YES - SOCS can attend ASPOC/A&S but they are no longer accepting packages from Sergeants who were promoted before July 1st, 2012.

Yep... I'm SOL in that department.

The Hate Ape - posted that in another thread. I got an e-mail from the recriuter I talked to a little while back and he asked how soon I expected to pick up sergeant ( didnt elaborate as to why he wanted to know) but I think I know why now. Could MarSOC be downsizing thier selection pool even more?

well if thats the case ASPOC must be working and it looks like we'll have to wait until the needs of the Marine Corps change...

Not so much downsizing but addressing the grade issue. Rank flooding can become quite excessive especially at the team level, so yeah - this will remain in effect for quite some time.

Unless A&S opens up in the near future I'm going to persue the Force route but my indoc would be 2 years out as I'm already in a slot to deploy with 2nd MSOB next year.

probably trivial but do you think the syrian civil war or iran's nuclear capability is going to affect any of what we already talked about. and could you elaborate more on the team level. i was under the impression that billet took presidense and rank wasnt an issue
