Anyone else an Olympics fan? I'm a fan of the Olympics, especially the Winter Olympics. I was in Milan a week ago. It was interesting to try and find excitement around the games given how decentralized they are.

The opening ceremony is interesting. Not sure it generated the excitement organizers want, but very European/Italian. I guess I just don't get it.

I'll watch all the alpine ski events and hockey. I find myself watching other sports I otherside never have interest in like biathalon (shooting and skiing - what's to like?), Nordic, curling, bobsled, luge, and speed skating...it's awesome!

As for coverage, what the f- is up with NBC having Snoop Dog? That guy sucks. I don't understand the draw.

That's all for now.

I personally know and am friends with a number of the people competing in Milan. I'm very much a fan. I am and will be watching most of it live. I promise not to post any spoilers for those waiting for USA prime-time coverage (replays).

My only gripe, and this doesn't apply for a few more weeks, but you won't see nearly the coverage for the paralympics. Same venues, same events, same level of competition, same prize money, same sponsors, and arguably (at times) much more interesting. Also, waaaay higher percentage of military personnel and veterans.

Vonn has been hot/cold with me over the years. She's been a bit more humble since her comeback, so I appreciated that. She has serious grit and no one can deny it.

Sadly, when she lost the ACL the other week, this was the only possible outcome in attempting to continue. Alpine ski racing is one of, if not the most, overall physically and mentally demanding sports. There's literally no way for someone to compete in the sport, especially at her level without an ACL.
