My name is Joey and i am a combat engineer in the reserves and have been since 2008. i have deployed once for OEF on a 10 month tour. I stumbled upon this website during some research about various special operations groups. I decided to make an account here because i was very interested in the SOF mentor program that i see on this site because the SOF community is such an exclusive club you rarely have any insight into it and coming from the street and deciding to go lets say 18X is extremely intimidating. Yes i did join the wrong component of the army and should have went and signed an active duty infantry contract from the start but right now my contract is almost up and i have been waking up every day of my life with the same question in my mind and that is "am i good enough to make it?". so i'm really going out on a limb here because the people that say "oh yea man i'm going to go SF" never do or they never make it. this is the first time that i have ever told anyone that i want to go SF even though i would stare at the Special Operations Recruiting banner in the KAF MWR gym every day when i was working out in there. the fact is that you kinda get brushed off and laughed at when your a reservist and want to talk to a recruiter about going SF. i have never gotten less than a 300 on a PT test and i always push myself to my breaking point. quitting is never in my mind and i will find any excuse to win. in my civilian job i'm a union heavy equipment operator so i run cranes, bulldozers and stuff like that. before that i was a mechanic and i worked on all that heavy equipment. i know there is no glory in SOF and i'm not one of those people looking for that i just want to be a part of something bigger with a group of men that you know without a doubt in your mind that they have your back and that when push comes to shove and the sh** hits the fan you are among the best.

Paragraphs, capitalization and good solid structure will make your posts much more readable. My brain hurts trying to decipher this...

No excuses about typing on a phone, you stated you wanted to join the SOF ranks, attention to detail and respect for others are key pieces of that mindset - plus, using correct English will make look you look much more professional on first glance which is a good thing.

A reserved welcome.
