My iron sights comment was a joke, since it's become a Boomer cliche.
As far as the article goes, any time you live fire from any position you're likely to encounter in combat is a good thing. Static firing lines are fine for long range practice, but run and gun, barricade shooting, moving targets...it's all good and the more the better. I'm a firm believer in not holding back on range time or ammo for trigger-pullers.
