This buyer's guide has open source information on recent improvements in night vision technology.
A very interesting read. My observation is that the night vision market is expanding heavily, with many new players. In my view, that can only bode well for the Special Operations community. We wouldn't have a Ferrari, a Porsche or a McLaren F-1 in the world, if there wasn't room for competition between automobile manufacturers. Our advanced optics market is probably no different. It is also interesting to see the nexus between free markets, technology, and the military in places other than merely aircraft and missile systems.
