Osprey Lost Power

I wonder if the pilot gave a bail out call, or did they just panic?

I've never been in a helo crash, but I've been through enough helo dunker trainers to know that if it looks like we're definitely going down in the ocean, I'm getting the f*** out before we go under if at any way possible. It's weird though, since he was Aircrew, he was definitely wearing a life preserver of some sort and carried a small O2 bottle. The Persian Gulf even this time of year is still relatively warm.

Terrible way to go. RIP brother.

Yeah, sucks.

Have to wonder how high they were when they bailed?

He may have been knocked out when he hit the water.

Fair winds and following seas.

Rest in peace CPL.

Do I stay or do I go? It must have been hairy enough for the crew to bail. RIP and hand salute to Cpl Spears.

I remember a story in Chuck Yeager's autobiography. He told of an aircraft crash-landing in which the front seater stayed with the plane and the back seater punched out. As it turned out it was the best decision for both. The front end of the plane stayed intact, the rear disintigrated and both survived. You have to make the call. Sometimes it's not the right one.
