Thought some of you might find these interesting. The first two pages (some content still redacted) of the President's Brief the day after the start of the Yom Kippur War (8 Oct 1973). At this stage the issue was in doubt. Israeli forces had been initially overwhelmed by the surprise Arab attack and there was serious concern this might lead to a US/USSR confrontation. From a personal standpoint, the 2nd Marine Division was put on high alert...to the point of weapons issue, seabags packed and Marines awaiting transportation.
