^^^is probably one of the best threads for newbies, from just about any site. I saw the "Benzoin" entries, and it brought back some memories. I first learned about it when we were calling it "Tough Skin". In my highschool football days, we had a ritual before every practice and game. We would suit and pad up except for anything on our feet. We would walk barefoot over about 100yds of gravel/blacktop in the school bus pickup area to the field, rain, snow, baking heat, to the "Stomp" box. Pretty big box with benches on two sides, and filled with Zinc Oxide powder. We would set our sorry butts down on the benches, paint our feet with Tough Skin (aka Benzoin), stomp around in the box to cover our feet and ankles with Zinc Oxide powder, then pull on our socks. Our shoes were ankle high spikes that were not exactly "fitted", they were close....sorta. For my four years, I never had one blister to contend with. Our feet looked awful, but I can't recall anyone having any big foot woes. It took another eight or so years of study to find out what that stuff really was, and how to use is "properly".
