Not sure if this is its own thread or better somewhere else, but SCOTUS is hearing Louisiana vs Callais, a challenge to Section 2 of the VRA, questioning the constitutionality of race in drawing maps for representatives.
I have been following on Twitter, and holy hell, the comments have been predictably entertaining. And Justice Jackson? A pure, 100%, unadulterated moron:
"Just trust me on this"
"They (black people) don't have equal access to the voting system. They're disabled."
Her basic legal argument is "just trust me, bro."
The NCAAP attorney arguing isn't doing any favors, either: "white democrats were not voting for black candidates."
If part of Section 2 is overturned, the democrats could lose 20 seats.
