It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David A. Fegyo, 30, on 05 October 2014.

Chief Petty Officer Fegyo enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reported to Naval Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois on 8 July 2002. On 1...2 September 2002, he completed Basic Training and reported to Quartermaster “A” School for two months.

On 29 November 2002, he entered Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training in Coronado, California. After six months of the most grueling and demanding military training, he graduated with BUD/S Class 245 on 12 September 2003 and immediately proceeded to Advanced SEAL Qualification Training, graduating on 27 February 2004. He was then assigned to his first permanent duty station, SEAL Team TEN, in Norfolk, Virginia from 7 April 2004 to 26 October 2010. In October 2010, he began a rigorous selection and training course with Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG). Nine months after beginning this training process, Chief Petty Officer Fegyo was selected to be an NSWDG Operator. He served admirably as a Team Member and Troop Leading Petty Officer at NSWTACDEVRON TWO. During his NSW career, he completed numerous deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

Dave was universally recognized by his peers as the ultimate SEAL Operator. He was an expert marksman with pistol, rifle, and shotgun; an outstanding boxer, kickboxer, and grappler; a lethally accurate sniper and an elite athlete. On any given day, Dave could be found honing his skills at any number of training facilities: at the NAS Oceana Skeet range shooting perfect games of “around-the-world,” in the gym moving massive weight, in the fight room working over the heavy bag, or on the rifle ranges constantly refining his skills and helping to better his teammates. Additionally, he was well versed in advanced manual, mechanical, and explosive breaching techniques and had a natural talent for close quarters combat and assaults.

Chief Petty Officer Fegyo was a highly decorated combat veteran with numerous awards, including two Bronze Star Medals with Valor, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons, two Presidential Unit Citations, a Joint Meritorious Unit Award, four Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, two Afghanistan Campaign Medals, two Iraq Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and many other personal and unit decorations.

Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Fegyo is survived by his loving wife, daughter, father, mother, brother, and numerous other family, friends and teammates.
Chief Fegyo succumbed to his battle with cancer Sunday. Godspeed, Chief!

RIP, Chief Fegyo. I am glad your suffering is over.

Fuck cancer.

What a shitty way to lose a warrior, especially one as young as Chief Fegyo.

RIP Chief. It really sucks to lose someone as talented and experienced as this to something like cancer. Goddammit.

Rest In Peace, Chief!

Thank you for your service.

I utterly detest cancer!

Crazy young to have accomplished so much only to have his life cut short.
