I came across an article about SOD-X in the North Carolina Ng recently and was wondering exactly what it is. There is not a whole lot of info about it. I was wondering if it was just a new special forces unit in the North Carolina ng or something different completely.

Isn't SOD-X the National Guard component of JSOC?

There are several task force units within the NG with SOD designations, or other oddball named designations for OPSEC reasons.

It was explained to me a few years ago that the NGSF SOD's (of whatever letter designation) are regional responsaability staff detachments to streamline deployments for NGSF ODA's to said region of responsibility. That was per a long time SF buddy, and he stated that these SOD's were not to be confused with the JTF North/ JTF South SOD's or State run NG CDTF SOD's, or whatever they are being called these days.
