SOT-A prep?

I’ve seen various bits of information regarding how to acquire a SOT-A slot; some say it’s only possible after first proving yourself as a 35P, while others say it’s possible to get it if you perform above and beyond during AIT. I’ve even seen rumors of a pipeline.

What’s the truth? Is there some kind of selection process? Should I be rucking and land-nav’ing my ass off?
