FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Members of the media are invited to attend the Regimental First Formation, the first donning of the Green Beret, and graduation ceremony of the 253rd Special Forces Qualification Course. The RFF will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 8 at the John F. Kennedy Plaza on Fort Bragg and the graduation will take place at 11 a.m Friday, July 9 at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C.

The 133 Soldiers from the 253rd SFQC have spent the last year or more learning the skills required of apprentice Green Berets, including individual specialty skills such as unconventional warfare methods, as well as language and cultural expertise.
These Soldiers train to be Special Forces officers, medics, engineers, weapons experts, and communication specialists.
Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Sekelsky, the incoming top ranking noncommissioned officer for Special Operations Command Europe and former SWCS Command Sgt. Maj., will be the guest speaker at the graduation and welcome in the newest members of the Special Forces Regiment.
The Special Forces Qualification Course is part of the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, the premiere training center for Civil Affairs, Military Information Support Operations, and Special Forces, developing agile, adaptive, warrior-focused Soldiers.
