The British Army is no longer considered a Top Tier fighting force

Unfortunately, I think the anonymous general's comments are probably true. And I don't think it's budgetary; IIRC Great Britain is one of the only NATO states that is meeting its 2% of GDP expenditure requirements.

This is also not a problem unique to the UK. Germany, which has one of the best-on-paper armies in Europe, is also a bit of a mess. hardly a week goes by where there's not some scandal or other about the state of the German military.

Germany's lack of readiness has been a significant problem for some time. That's why it was interesting that they currently hold command of NATO's IRF. Because they have an Army of 200+k and supposedly do not have a Brigade element that they could deploy in a week id necessary. When it comes to the readiness of the Brits, they're fit and ready. Would say our readiness is also trash when you look at FORSCOM sliders. Only made worse by this stupid COVID shot mandate.

It's weird though, the Army began to focus on Readiness in 2018. And Readiness across the force has degraded...perhaps that is the wrong focus? Eff these dudes.

Canada is fucked. Trudeau and his gang of woke morons, has destroyed our capabilities.

The loss in battlefield experienced troops, alone; is crippling. Due to attrition, vaccine mandates and aggressive changes in culture.

The government and media have made the public think there's a "right wing extremist", racist, misogynist and rapist around every corner. Veterans Affairs disability claim approval times, into year's now. Not enough housing and troops going to food banks to feed their families. Making shit recruiting numbers even worse.

While it is supposed to be adding about 5,000 troops to regular and reserve forces to meet a growing list of demands, the military is instead short more than 10,000 trained members – meaning about one in 10 positions are currently vacant. In addition to a lack of recruits, the Canadian military continues to face longstanding challenges in procuring new equipment, maintaining aging gear, and tracking down replacement parts. There are also ongoing questions about whether the federal government will move to contract replacements for the weapons, gear and other equipment such as ammunition that the Canadian military has been donating in the billions to Ukraine.

Ukraine is located near many NATO allies. Should Russia opt to expand its aggression to neighboring countries and Canada finds itself called on to fulfill its pledges to the treaty, the readiness issues could complicate things, Eyre said.

“We spent a lot of time focused on what our commitments are to NATO, what capabilities that we’ve pledged to NATO if that happens. And so if we did have to respond, we would meet those pledges, but it would be a challenge,” he said.
“It would be an all hands on deck event.”

Eyre said in the interview he worries that as it stands now, Canada’s military is not ready for the challenges the future holds as the global security situation continues “deteriorating.”

“Do you think that you are ready right now?” Stephenson asked.

“Right now, for the challenges that lie ahead? No,” Eyre said.
