The NFL, Kneeling, Ratings, and the Flag

Last night's half time show is amazing in a Rap/hip-hop context. I can't think of any rap beef that's ended with the victor getting 5 Grammy's and then performing the song at that year's Superbowl.

As a halftime show, it wasn't the worst (Black-Eyed Peas take that) but it wasn't great. Kendrick is very much a lyrical rapper and this isn’t the venue for that.

Serena Williams is a Thot though.

Also, the Academy of Music is a joke. Back in our day these beefs usually meant a murder was about to happen :ROFLMAO:

We’ve had rap/hip hop/pop for last four years or so. Hopefully next year they have GWAR.
it's been 15 years, bro. Pop/hip hop has been the primary food group for SB halftime for a decade and a half. Coldplay doesn't count, you gotta go back to The Who in 2010 to get to something approaching rock. Allegedly Creed is on the short list for next year, and the SB is in Metallica's back yard...

I love seeing people (Ban Shapiro notably) that are just so far removed from the culture saying how bad it was- bro, stay in your lane. Although, he is a chart topping #1 ranked rapper, so I guess???

@amlove21 arent you a hip hop guy? I’m surprised you haven’t weighed in.
You rang? lol.

Listen, I am a huge fan of K-Dot, and this Drake/Kendrick beef was my favorite thing to happen in that space in '24. I loved the halftime show for a rap performance, but @Cookie_ isn't wrong in his critique that it's not the best place for Kendrick's style. Also, I would love to see some diversity (since it's our strength) and get a rock band up there.

That being said- hahahahah do you think Drake just cried the whole time as the guy that won FIVE grammy's for his diss track flamed him to 135M viewers??? He freaking called Drake a PDF live and everyone sang along. I said it somewhere else, but this song (They Not Like Us) is generational. You put that song on in the club and literally everyone sings along. I have seen it on a freaking U10 cheerleader/dance hype video. It's ubiquitous and it can't be understated what a CRAZY hit that thing is. It's just a great song.

It has everything I love about hip hop- it's petty, great lyrics, and old people don't get it and cry about it. Perfect.

Dude. The craziest thing about this is that Serena's sister was killed in a gang shootout by crips. Imagine cosplaying as and organization that murdered your sister and dancing their signature dance. Wild.

Dude, I don't think the "conservative commentators" like Ben/Matt Walsh/Benny Johnson etc actually listen to any popular music.
Not just rap/pop/r&b, but literally any genre that's popular.

They all seem to only listen to classical or yacht rock.

I tend to think Ben and Matt listen to each other calling play-by-play to transgender films.

"We got a banger ahead of us tonight, don't we Matt?"
"Great play on words, Ben! Tonight's male, female trans threesome is sure to be a crowd pleaser."
"Indeed it is, Matt. I'm looking forward to..."

And then I threw up and had to stop typing.

So I think after the Kaerpernick shit and the idiotic marketing from Bud Light...the NFL figured out who actually watches Football. The amount of moments featuring the various services or gold star families during the Draft makes it clear where they're aligned.

Shedeur Sanders still not drafted after the third round. Definitely did not anticipate that.

There’s a video going around of him being “Pranked” by somebody calling his phone and telling him that he’d been drafted. The young man and his papa have been served a very unappetizing slice of humble pie.

He could go undrafted, which makes him a walk on somewhere or he moves to Canada.
Did not see this coming.

I don't want to judge the guy, but seems he could be hard to coach. We all know Neon Deion could back up his mouth, but a lot of coaches may not want take the risk on Shedeur. They could regret it someday. Time will tell.

NFL Coach Destroys ‘Entitled’ Shedeur Sanders, Says It Was The Worst Interview Of His Life

I no longer follow pro ball and college only in passing, but I'm tired of whatever hype train is pushing this dude on every social media account I have despite never watching a single clip of football. I'm not even remotely surprised he's undrafted after 3 rounds and has a poor reputation.

Shedeur is a piece of work. He was a decent college quarterback playing under his father, he didn't have to earn his starting spot. When you play for your father you have to be humble and GREAT. He was arrogant and ok. His stats are pretty curated and he doesn't have a lot of tools. He is a "system" QB. Which is fine, do you know how many good college quarterbacks never get whiff of the NFL? Thousands at this point. There National Champion winning QBs who have great intangibles and decent tools that go undrafted.

Then you get to the baggage, guy doesn't love football. Did you see his draft day drip? Had to be 500k in Jewelry. And the draft room? Had to have cost 200k for that build out. They were acting like he was annointed when he hadn't done anything. .500 QB under dad with a lot of passing yards? C'mon. Being a Coach's son is a bit of a curse, but when you bring his personality and attitude? The moment he didn't do the Senior Bowl and didn't throw at the combine, something was up.

I get the whole anonymous source thing I rail against with the government, but generally the anonymous coach or assistant GM in the NFL is a real and accurate take. Also, Mel Kiper was loosing his mind like this with Jimmy Clausen. Jimmy was also an arrogant prick that I watched in High School. (We played a few divisions up from him).

Nope. They are pandering just like they've done for years and it's why I no longer follow the sport. Nice to hear they are on "exploit veterans and patriotism 2.0" now since BLM is no longer cool or profitable. Roger Goodell needs to die in a fire.
