The NFL, Kneeling, Ratings, and the Flag

Nope. They are pandering just like they've done for years and it's why I no longer follow the sport. Nice to hear they are on "exploit veterans and patriotism 2.0" now since BLM is no longer cool or profitable. Roger Goodell needs to die in a fire.

Goodell makes the owners a ton of money. He's going nowhere. But yes, they're pandering. Because BLMers don't buy tickets. We're somehow still doing Pride Nights in the NHL when gay hockey fans make up like .0000000000000000000000000% of the fanbase. But hey whatever makes people feel good as they pander not to fans but to certain sponsors that want their name in front of the very people they claim are toxic.

Shedeur Sanders still not drafted after the third round. Definitely did not anticipate that.

There’s a video going around of him being “Pranked” by somebody calling his phone and telling him that he’d been drafted. The young man and his papa have been served a very unappetizing slice of humble pie.
It's awesome to see, especially after this:
Following this shitshow has been the only reason for me to take an interest in the draft in years.

At this point, there seems to be a strong chance this kid goes undrafted:

So Quarterback interviews are highly technical, a bit like coding and sports analytics. They don't ask you feel good questions and they last hours. You break down plays for hours. If you look at a bunch of the articles...one I find hilarious. Apparently Shedeur answered a Facetime call in an interview and didn't say "hey I'm in an interview, call you back". He had like 20 minute conversation.

To multiple teams in interviews when asked to break down plays he declined and wanted to talk about nonsense like how he was so good he would change the trajectory of the organization blah blah blah. People want to say he's better than Dillon Gabriel, who is #2 all time in Passing in the FBS...if Dillon Gabriel was as tall as Shedeur (6'2 1/2") he's drafted before Jaxson Dart.

Consensus was that Shedeur doesn't love football. Mel Kiper hasn't been this in love with and this wrong with a QB since Jimmy Clausen (Mel falls in love with QBs). Rather than watch the sideshow of ESPN for D2 and D3 I switched to the NFL Network and it is so much more professional.

When you her everything Tom says here, why would you want to draft Shedeur?

ETA: To give you an idea of QB interviews.

I've watched him play a couple of times, not overly impressed, but I'm going to withhold any derogatory comments about Shedeur Sanders skills or passion for the game. His behavior is ridiculous, but he's still a kid, has a lot to learn, and time will tell what he'll do as an NFL quarterback. I don't think it's a bad call by the Browns to give him a shot at showing the world they were wrong.

His dad should have prepared him better.
He's an adult, act professional.

His dad is arrogant and I don't disagree. My point is I was still doing stupid shit at 22 that my dad wouldn't have approved of and my son, a West Point grad and an officer, is 22 and still doing dumb shit. No high hopes here, but at 22, his brain is still developing and maybe eating some humble pie will help the process.

His dad is part of the problem.
Agree.

Agree, but he just got his first taste of FAFO.

The stories of his team interviews are unbelievable. Facetiming in the middle of an interview.

He can become a Brady, or turn into a Manzel. His choice.

First of all, check in on your Cleveand friends. We are not ok.

The real fans are pissed. Why 2 QB's? If you drafted who you think is a better QB, why waste a pick (that you traded for!!!) on Sanders??

The other really weird thing is the 180 out from all these new Browns fans all of a sudden. Because I am probably the only Browns fan my larger network knows, my phone just started exploding right after the pick. The overwhelming feeling I am getting is that Clebeland had the steal of the draft, Sanders is going to come in with a chip on his shoulder, Watson probably isn't ever playing again (rumor), and Sanders is this generational talent. Listen- I would love that to be true. But..

... here's a hypothetical for you. You're telling me a kid that wen 13-12 in a bullshit conference with middling EVERYTHING you need in a QB (arm strength, IQ, check down ability) from the draft THEN gets into meetings and clacks off his own personal SVIED in interviews, seems entitled and disinterested, drops to the freaking 5th round after constructing his own draft selection studio for his social media, THEN gets drafted to be QB5 (fun fact we have 1 more QBs on the roster right now than we do playoff appearances in the last 20 years) in CLEVELAND of all places... and you're telling me THAT'S the guy that's gonna come into OTA's and take the spot from a guy that's objectively better at football AND massages (Watson), a super bowl champion the city loves (Flacco), a proven NFL quarterback that plays the same system (Pickett) and a higher-drafted and objectively better QB in all regards (Gabriel)?

As always, God hates Cleveland.
