Happy 250th, Army bros.

Hate to bring it up, but some of the “marching” looks a bit…how do I say this… cuz I know what all the Marines are thinking…

But you got nice tanks and cool gear

Anyway congratulations, you deserve a parade and the praise of a grateful nation.

I'm Army and I think the marching was fucked up like a football bat. There were no NCOs keeping the troops in step from the left of the formations, and I'm sure Guns and Rose's blaring in the loud speaker wasn't the best music for keeping time.

I figure both the 250th birthday and flag day were good enough occasions to have a parade. I would hate to be in one, so I appreciate the troops that were there.

Formations and ceremonies suck...

Hey, I like military parades. Glad I wasn't in it. Yeah, DC in June? Hours of prep time, hours of standing around in formation, hurry up and wait...No thanks. Change-of-command ceremonies at regiment or division levels were the worst.

Well, Top, the Edinburgh Tattoo it was not. I'm probably being too critical. I don't expect the Army puts much emphasis on marching these days, and I can understand that. Maybe they didn't want it to appear too martial?

But when you watch the British Trooping the Colour, or the military parades they put on, it raises expectations.

But God Bless the Army...my pop was a soldier in the ETO.

Yeah, I pissed my pop off when I told him, it's a giant waste of tax payers money. Lol.

I also told him, while it looks good, I guarantee every Joe there was like, fuck this nonsensical trash.

That shit would have resulted in about 137 different lacerations if there had been fixed bayonets during that parade
I remember being super-nervous about changes of command in the 101st. The tall officers were in the front, armed with pistols. Joes were in the back, right shoulder arms, bayonets fixed. Biggest guys in the front ranks.

We had guys fall out every time. Every. Time. I was nervous that one of the guys behind me would fall forward and filet my back with that M4-mounted bayonet. Never happened, but I was still a little worried. ;)
