Yesterday's Kabul Attack

Thank you Mohamed Ali Jinnah who dreamed of an Islamic state,(Pakistan) which ultimately turned to custard, which he acknowledged as being a failure. And thank you Maharajah of Kashmir who was too busy with other matters such as hunting & fishing to attend to the problems of his principality to make a definite decision at the time of partition. For all his faults thank you Zia al Haq for apart from executing Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, for stemming the tide of the Russian ideal of a warm water port (Karachi ) and thank you to Perez Musharraf for contributing to the execution of Bhuttos' daughter Benazir. Wot.A.Cunt.Of.A.Place.

I have a friend, a retired DEA guy, who spent some time in Pakistan back in the 80s. I got a postcard from him one day that summed up his general impression and I'll never forget what he wrote:

"Pakistan: 50-gazillion people and one toilet."

I think it would be amusing to fantasize the many different ways, of "eradicating" PAK. The nuclear option is too quick and painless, IMV: more fun I think would be a massive air/cruise missile campaign followed by six Army and two Marine divisons, frag and bayonet work.

Yeah...I like bayonets.

I want to throat punch Mountbatten and the English for their rush to divest themselves of India. I understand the need, but I don't think they considered, or cared, about the 2nd and 3rd order effects.

The country was born from an abortion, we shouldn't expect much from a disfigured fetus as it ages....

Twin abortions in fact: there was for a time East Pakistan, now Bangla Desh. How to govern a split state and make it work originally was plainly ridiculous. Mountbatten did his best with what he had to work with but Jinnah did not budge. Mountbattens' consigning vital water rights to India was for me, a guffaw moment & PK still has a problem with a lack of it.

Sort of on the same subject, I was in Iraq when they hanged Saddam Hussein. Sitting on the back of the Stryker, our BN CMR (I was his RTO) came up to me and asked me what I thought about it. I don't remember what I said but his response was, "before they kill him, they ought to ask him how to run the country."

Props for using "hanged" instead of "hung."
