Nice pick on a moving aircraft. It would have been not so good if they drove into the moving propeller. There could have been debris coming right throught the windshield. Great job gents!!

Running the tail may, but may not do enough damage to the rudder and horizontal stabilizer to prevent takeoff.
It doesn't take a lot to cause significant damage to the control surfaces of a small airplane but running into the tail would also very likely push the tail up, forcing the nose and prop into the ground, especially on a soft/dirt field.
