I think he avoided it mostly because he retired in 2006, and he didn't have many movies after the 80s that have stuck around culturally. As weird as it is, The rock is probably the last role most people remember him in.

I am old enough to remember Jimmy Carter being president while I was in grade school and Ronald Reagan as I entered towards junior high.

I miss him and the ideals he convinced me to believe in.

Went in under Carter, served under Reagan. I like what he stood for, for the most part.

The amazing thing to me is that a 1963 Cessna 205 is also a great glider (with the right pilot aboard). Great landing…and the plane still had enough inertia to taxi off the runway. who needs an engine?
