I watched a long video yesterday that was labeled a police officer shooting. It started with a traffic stop of a teenager who seemed to be completely compliant and cooperative. It got boring so I skipped ahead to the action. I saw a man jump out of the car and rush the officer, who then unloaded on the guy. I was like "WTF, this kid went from completely compliant to getting gunned down in the street? WTF happened? And how did he turn from 17 to like 40?"
Going back and reviewing the tape, the teenager was still doing his thing with the cop when a different person, seemingly randomly, drove by the cop (who was in the street of the residential neighborhood on the traffic stop), stopped his car, jumped out, and ran at the cop with a hatchet.
Just another example of the craziness police officers have to deal with every day.
If a homeowner did a mag dump they'd arrest him.

Probably one of the heavier, sturdier, and safer things to be in...assuming the option of getting out of dodge doesn't exist.
We've all seen videos of what those can plow through and still be intact.
We've got 60s going over our place all the time...Had a '47 roar by the other day. The Forest Service has a UH-1 that flies over about once a week, so just the sound of that gets my attention every time. Plus I've been helo medevaced twice, so...
...nothing like the sound of rotors to bring back the time when your life depended on them.

Military aircraft have a distinctive smell, and when you have been around them for a hot minute you can differentiate by sound. One of the many things I miss about growing up in eastern NC (New River MCAS, Cherry Point MCAS, Seymour Johnson AFB all within about 75 miles), and certainly flying as air crew.
