You're not hitting the ground much, if any, harder than jumping out of the back of a pick up.

I'd argue that most of the knee/back issues in the airborne community come from other activities (rucking, running).

Running and rucking in boots with a loaded pack on your back is the equivalent of having someone repeatedly hitting your heels with a sledge hammer and jamming your knees into your thighs.

Yep...over time, it does a fine job of causing damage to your knees and back.
