BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan National Army commandos, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan, and other coalition forces removed a large cache of explosive material during a two-day operation in Panjawi District, Kandahar province, July 10.
During the joint operation, more than 500 pounds of explosive material was found alongside other improvised explosive device making materials. All material, including a motorcycle rigged with explosives, was destroyed by the combined force.
“There is not a more mean or dastardly way to harm your neighbors than to build and indiscriminately place bombs along roads and in farm fields,” said Sgt. 1st Class Andrew Kosterman, a CJSOTF-A spokesperson. “This Afghan commando-led operation was successful in preventing insurgents from performing such evil acts.”
