Australian Army member charged over training in public with replica gun

Australian Army member charged after training session with replica gun send schools into lockdown
Updated yesterday at 6:52pm

The man who sent schools into lockdown south of Brisbane following reports he was wearing camouflage clothing and carrying what appeared to be a gun is a member of the Australian Army.

The 26-year-old, who has now been charged with public nuisance, sparked a full police response involving patrols and Polair just after 11:15am after several people raised the alarm in Rochedale South.

It sent Rochedale High School, nearby Redeemer Lutheran College and several daycare centres into lockdown.

Quite obviously a bent up piece of steel, certainly a bit more elaborate than the bit of pipe with a handle we used to use back in the olden days.

Training aid, so maybe one of those blue rubber jobs? Not the blue rubber jobs you're used to Diggles but rather one shaped like a gun.

If so seems a bit much to charge him. He was dumb for not telling the cops though.
