Hello everyone, we are working on a project together for writing a book. Although we are not going to describe any details or discuss the publication, we are interested ...

<edited by staff>

Looking forward to doing business!

harry- welcome to the site. I edited your post because the way you present your book idea makes many of us deeply suspicious as to your motives and your desired outcome. You come to our site to troll for information but don't tell us anything about yourself or your project? And then with your second post (since moved to the moderator forum) you're asking people to dish dirt on their bad experiences with military recruiters?

I think that any reasonable person looking at your activity on the site would conclude that you want us to help you pursue some kind of agenda-driven project, which would probably end up reflecting poorly on both the site and the military in general, and we're not going to support that.

Since there is a chance that I'm wrong about your motivations and intentions I'm not (yet) going to ban you from the site, but consider this fair warning. We have a tight community here where all points of view are respected, but we're not here to help bash anyone or anything, and ulterior motives are not welcome.

Thread closed.

further edited to add: after conversing with staff members of other sites where harry has attempted similar solicitations, we decided it would be in everyone's best interests for him to no longer be a member of our community.

Putting this out there in the interests of site transparency.

The site received the following email message shortly after harry's perma-ban went into effect, and we were able to verify that it came from the same user. The IP address resolves to an address in Sydney, Australia near the Bradfield Highway. We're not going to post the IP in the open, but staff members from other sites who think they might be dealing with the same troll are welcome to contact one of us about it. We just thought that people might be interested in knowing the kind of person(s) they'd be dealing with if they ever wanted to "do business" with harrythewriter and his ilk. Feel free to spread the word.

Harry, good luck getting that information you wanted from our site or any site like it.

Thread re-opened.

Subject: Whats your fantasy?
Nobody knows what drives people to suddenly impersonate the military. Maybe its a need to look tough, so very tough that they even believe a .com domain registered in a different country would convince anyone they are somehow speaking for the armed forces of another?
I wonder how they profit from it? Owning a domain with decent webtraffic does cost a little bit out of pocket, yet many other these unusual looking paramilitary websites dont seem to require membership fees or extract much money from operating in the first place. Possibly, they are recieving the benefit of reputation, although as said before, they convince few. Possibly they get joy from their lowlife hobby of using anonymous accounts to claim they are verified military personnel or even some kind of elite cyber commando from the internet? Possibly they are just jerks and the only way they could ever convince anyone they are soldier material is to write about it fondly then hide behind a cowardly facade of big fighting words towards others?

Yeah...thats probably it. Cowards that dont have much substance yet feel the need to stand up and be brave in their faggoty little web forums. You had best be carefull claiming your the spokesmen for other governments armies, because they might not appreciated it. Hell! you should think twice about cliaming to speak for any member of any armed force, since there are not many real servicemen around who would put up with your crap. Since it is usually a punishable offence to make military imitations, you might be unplesantly suprised if your not careful.

By the way; that was a very hard hitting thump I got by banning me from looking at the forum. I might even have to get a whole new email address! Oh my

From time to time, people who get banned feel the need to re-engage via email. Sometimes those re-engagements are pretty memorable; I remember the former SEAL who got all butt-hurt about us panning the lame "reality show" he was trying to pitch. His response to being banned was almost as dumb as the idea he had for his show (which, if memory serves, never got off the ground), but at least it was coherent. I'm pretty sure that thread is still up somewhere.

Anyway, what made this tirade from harrythewitless different is that it wasn't even interesting. I'm not even sure what he was taking issue with. No member of the Shadowspear.com staff has ever claimed to be a "representative" or "spokesman" of anything other than... Shadowspear.com. And as far as an "investigation" goes, "investigate" away. Let me go ahead and give you the findings: "Yep! All of the members of the staff are veterans, just liked they claimed to be. And they all still think you're an assclown."

I loved the comment about what "real servicemen" would or would not do, especially since ol' harry is probably writing us from the basement of his mother's house in the suburbs of South Sydney. I mean after all, if he knew what "real" members of the military did, he wouldn't have to go to sites all over the Internet to ask about it, now would he?

I'm also unsure about the "hard hitting thump" he mentioned. I think we let him down pretty easy, all things considered. Everything said to him is shown in this thread; there was no additional verbiage added in the message he received informing him he had been banned. If he would have handled the situation appropriately, we wouldn't even still be talking about him. Pretty dumb move on his part.

As for the charge of being "jerks," I think that most of the staff would have to plead "guilty as charged." 8-)
