Bad day at Nellis

An HH-60 helicopter crashed Thursday night at Nellis AFB, Nev. Four crew members received minor injuries and were transported to a local facility for treatment, according to a Nellis release. The crash occurred at 10 p.m. during a training mission at the Nevada Test and Training Range; the cause is under investigation.

A civilian pilot was injured earlier that morning when the A-4 Skyhawk he was flying crashed while flying red air operations.

As they say, "Any landing you can walk away from....." I'm glad there was no loss of life.

The AF numbers crunchers figure about 1.2 Class A mishaps for every 100,000 flight hours. That's either fatalities and/or million dollar loss. If you walk away, you beat the system.
