I'm curious to know if the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) will allow me to enlist with an Option 40 contract. I've been researching the topic but I can't seem to get a definite answer.

Talk to a recruiter, don't be afraid the majority are smelly dirty legs but they don't bite [note sarcasm for the offended]. It might require you to take a semesters worth of college classes

All persons and institutions subject to California law that require a high school diploma for any purpose must accept the certificate as satisfying the requirement. Although federal government agencies are not bound by state laws, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management has ruled that the Certificate of Proficiency shall be accepted in applications for federal civilian employment. Military service policies vary.

Are you talking about a high school diploma equivalent?

IF so, go back to school and finish.
