CCTs performing Ops as a team

I was recently reading the STO AMA page on reddit. The STO who runs that page said that in the near future it is very likely that Combat Controllers could be doing their own missions (non-joint support missions) like the other SOF units do. He mentioned that this is probable since after all, the SEALs were originally just "underwater demolition divers" and now they are mostly a ground operations oriented group. The Rangers used to have airfield seizures as a primary function and they don't always do that now either.
Also, I've heard more and more that the army is trying to get their own JTACs and that makes sense for a branch to want its own JTACs without having to draw from a sister branch. and JTAC school is open to all branches.

If the other branches stopped using CCT JTACs, Combat Controllers would obviously be left with less JTAC and CAS roles which have been the CCT's primary role recently. AFSOC is the only branch that provides specialty commandos to teams. With less need to do that, would AFSOC then stop sending CCTs out as single commandos and start deploying the CCTs as weapons specialist teams on operations instead?
Thoughts...

I don't know about REDDIT, but prior to 9/11 airfield seizure was a major mission; CCT's initial entry was a unilateral mission in support of the Joint Force Commander.
There were a lot of unilateral missions at the start of OIF and OEF, so unilateral is not new.

Thoughts? Go earn something and then find out for yourself. You're asking questions based off what some dude posted on Reddit. Kind of ridiculous. Does it matter?

@CDG Well, the guy was a STO pipeline graduate and he was running the page on behalf of the Air Force to give information for those interested in the MOS. I'm going into AFROTC and that would be my choice career path.

It may not matter now, but I think its its really interesting. I mean, the CCTs are so well trained, I don't see why they couldn't operate in teams for reasons other than their original purpose.

Sure the SEALs were “just” underwater demolition divers a mere 70 years ago prior to the invention of the jet airplane and helicopter. It’s not shocking that their role has changed since the assault on Tarawa.

Cool man. Good luck with all that.

Everything changes and the guys paid to worry about the future aren’t first term airmen. Trying to figure out where a job will be in 2 years before you even don your beret...

Just reading this sentence makes me shake my head until I want to pass out!

Re-read what you wrote and think about it for a moment and then think about the audience that is reading it.

After all, we are all well trained, but why shouldn't we do things other that what our original purpose it.

Maybe, it's because there are others already well trained to the THEIR JOBS.

A sign of wisdom is knowing your audience.

Now, drive on....

Cadre mentioned something of this nature a while back, there's some truth to it.

Clarify please.

Edit:

You are not vetted, and the only update you've posted on your 'direct experience' was: "Washed out. Was fun".

Stay in your lane and out of this thread.

When I was in the pipeline, the cadre mentioned upcoming changes in the career field. One of those would be CCTs conducting missions in teams of their own instead of attaching to sister-units.

In other words, going back and doing some of the pre-9/11 missions.
We've been at war so long the unilateral missions are only a memory.

Again, you are not even vetted Military much less qualified to comment on a field you did not complete training for.
Do not respond again, because the reasons I've listed above mean that your opinions/comments carry no weight in this thread. Move on.
