Hello everyone-

I first want to thank the administrators for granting me access to the boards. There is a vast wealth of knowledge located on here, and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to read, listen and learn.

A little about me-

24 yr. old recent college graduate with a B.A. in Criminology. In great physical shape, and want nothing more than to become a part of the TACP community. I understand nothing is handed to you, however I do believe I possess the motivation and determination necessary to excel in this career-field.

I recently spoke with a local recruiter, who after a couple quick questions, determined I was ineligible for enlistment because of a DUI, which occurred roughly 4 yrs ago. He basically said that this charge was disqualifying and I should try another branch. Now I completely understand that recruiting has slowed because of the draw down and sequester, and that the AF can be much more selective on who they accept, however I was hoping that a moral waiver for this could be possible. I completed all court mandated sanctions, as well as having the charge expunged from my record, but the recruiter I spoke with did not seem interested.

I apologize for the long-winded introduction post, however I am determined to make this a reality, and was hoping there might be someone here who can point me in the right direction.

Looking forward to keeping my mouth shut and my ears open.

Welcome to the site. To echo what SOWT said, you should look into the Air Guard. I have a DUI from 2008 and was able to enlist into the ANG with a moral waiver. What state are you in?

My advice is to get a job in the civilian sector (not LE, not with a DUI) and be a productive member of society.
