So my unit needs me sizing to draw all the cold and wet weather kit; through my time in, I've not had the choice of actually having properly fit wet and cold weather gear, and only used it a small handfull of times, at that. (except the wind jacket, I used the shit outta that.)

For the marshmellow suit, does the sizing usually properly correspond to the rest of the sizing conventions for issued gear? Even the goretex parka I had, let alone the wet weather gear, was all sized up. Should I just have them pull me the normal sizes vs sizing up?

Found my old leather glove liners from days in service. Lost OD green wool inserts, forever ago, picked these up off Amazon, US made.

Just in time for snow storm tomorrow.
Dude, I loved those gloves. First set molded itself to my hands, which was awesome! Been looking for a manufacturer that sells the same style. I really despised the nomex/leather stuff that they issued afterwards.

These black leather shells were circa 1994. Amazing they are still good. Occasionally, I'll treat em with obenhaufs oil.

Noice! The tightening straps are one of the best features of that glove style. Leather is an amazing material!

We all clearly retain different memories of the old GI Issue D3A leather gloves and wool liners.

I do not think I could romanticize my relationship with those things even if I tried to soften that image with a bottle of Eagle Rare.

At Campbell Before and during OIF IV, our brigade commander ask us what we wanted for the troops. We bought Oakley everything. Boots, gloves, Sunglasses, pads, etc. I'm not sure if it helped with our mission, but we looked cool doing it.
Even support guys like me got Oakely and Sunnto as part of the JSOC package. Score!!

I mentioned it before on the site, but I thought the Oakley boots we had were straight garbage. They were low cut, so every time I sat down the bottom of my pants would pop out of the top of the boots and show that I wasn't wearing the right socks  Yeah it was JSOC and downrange so no one cared about it other than me.

The boots also fell apart during a very simple and very short support-guy deployment. I wore them to mow the grass when I got home and just ware the Belleville standard issue boots after that. Nowhere near as sexy but at least the sole didn't blow out.
