Anyone of you gents had a rough landing like this? Seems like he was lucky to land in the water but still -- damn looked like a pretty nasty landing to me.

What could have caused this? Wind shear? Jumper losing control?

I got no experience with this sport.

bad math and poor depth perception

Must have misjudged his altitude when he started his turn. Thats why competitive canopy-piloting is done over water. That same approach in the main landing areas would have likely been a fatal impact.
