Excellent thread, definitely a must read.
Seems honorably retired Law Enforcement Officers are exempt.
"(4) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to--
(A).....
(B).....
(C) the possession, by an individual who is retired from service with a law enforcement agency and is not otherwise prohibited from receiving a firearm, of a semiautomatic assault weapon transferred to the individual by the agency upon such retirement;"
Does anyone have a status update on this bill?

Thanks for the link. Just read there hasn't been any action on it since July 28, 2008.
Also read that ALL the cosponsors of this bill are Republican. No wonder the Republicans got routed in this election.

Bush did "OK", kinda on the 2nd Amendment rights. He was not a strong friend of it though. With the Supreme Court decision and the current political climate coming up it will be interesting to scary.
