Hey all. I'm hoping for some help from y'all, MARSOC specifically.

My bestie got Catfished. Hard. I'm doing what I can and trying to explain that things don't work the way he said they do. My father was a SEAL for 13yrs starting somewhere in the mid to late 60s so I have some knowledge, granted not much. Further, 80% of my fam is military. Active, retired, or honorably discharged.

Unfortunately, due to her history, she essentially trauma bonded to this asshole. He claimed he was former MARSOC that went private. All conversations were on discord or in a game called Kingshot.

He claimed he started a 6 month deployment and would tell her when he'd leave and return from "missions." And then told her where he was at, the Sudan, when he heroically died saving his team after a mission went so bad they were cut off for 7 days.

I have tried, so hard. So very hard to debunk what she's been and being told. Unfortunately, she's holding on to hope.

I have a full name and DOB and IF he served in MARSOC, it would have been 10-15 years ago.

I'm working on a FOIA for a DD214 but I have no clue how long that will take.

Any help anyone can give me, I'd appreciate. She has kids and as it stands their Christmas is fucked bc their mom is so lost in grief she's not functioning.

I swear, no scam. I'm absolutely willing to get on a phone call, I'm in NC, or discord and provide screenshots of what she's being told.

I'm hoping someone who was MARSOC around 10 or so years ago may be able to tell me if someone by a certain name served. I have serious doubts that even that part of the story is true. I'm happy to work with a go between.

Oh! I just noticed I can attach files! I'll add the screenshot of the "notification" from his "sister."

I tried telling her that even IF this was true, no fucking way are his personal phones released to next of kin, that lives in the Philippines, and in her hands within 7 days of death.

Unfortunately, my friend will always come back with any thing I say to debunk something with some fantastical movie level shit. No matter how often I say that shit doesn't happen in real life, she can't bring herself to let go of this great soulmate level love.
