Howdy,
I'm interested in making a career in the NAVY as a SARC. Hopeful that I can pop-off the start of it all in 2016. In the meantime, I'm a father, husband, dependent (my wife is currently an LTJG in the NAVY), Rugger, and Personal Trainer. I'm happy to be here.

Welcome.

You have some lofty goals, and some high hurdles in front of you. Being already married to an officer may create some issues you haven't even thought about - there are chances you'll get compassionate assignments, but it'll probably be at the bases where the Navy needs her since she is the higher rank.
Plans for the kids if you both get deployed, or you are away for the extensive Basic, HN training and then the SARC pipeline?
As a SARC, you will be under the command of the USMC and will have to adhere to their training/deployment and requal schedules - are you prepared to be away from your family for extended periods of time, or be stationed away from your family for extended periods of time?
Are you prepared for any possible decrease in income you'll experience enlisting in the Navy - look at the enlisted pay scales, you may very well be going backwards in compensation.
How does your wife feel about these issues?

Not putting up obstacles, just shining a light on them - these are real and palpable concerns that are there and may spell disaster for one or both of your careers, or your marriage and family.

Welcome! We need more SARCs. It's a great NEC that is hurting for good people. Best of luck in your endeavors.

I'm going to answer this the best possible way with the utmost respect.
Sure I have lofty goals. I have a life to live and have goals/milestones to help me get there.
Plans for the kids will be arranged when duty calls. There is no need to worry about it now as I am not in the Navy.
The length of time for Basic, HN training, and the SARC pipeline will create problems if I allow it to negatively impact my personal life outside of the Navy and lofty career choice.
Being away from family for extended periods of time is something I've already and will continue to prepare myself for; it'll be managed to the best of my abilities. I'll do what ever I have to, to get the job done, complete the mission, and be successful.
Income... I'll be taking at least a 60% pay cut by enlisting. Money is great, but legacy is greater. I'm not concerned about compensation as experience, job skills, saving lives, et cetra will be better compensation.
As for my wife, she supports me 100% of the way and wants me to fulfill my dreams by any means necessary.

I greatly appreciate the light shed on these issue, and welcome all insight, experience, and questions.
