Good Afternoon everyone,

As you can see, my nom de plume is "Freefalling" and for those of you slow on the uptake, I am (somedays against my better judgement) an Administrator here on Shadowspear. I'd like to announce the end to Intro Thread #17506's Grammargeddon phase as we transition to a "Welcome or Don't Post" phase.

NatecGregory, your posts, to be succint, suck. While we can easily overlook some mistakes, I know I have a bad habit of typing fast and missing letters or whole words, the quantum level of failure represented in your posts so far is not tolerated. A little effort isn't just appreciated...it is required. Using the Shift key to capitalize words shows us that you actually paid attention in school and have some motivation, pride, and desire to represent yourself as an adult.

You're interacting with a community which has a broad range of skills, rank, and experience across all of the US armed forces; the same is true for some non-US nations and we're fortunate to have them represented. We aren't your fellow classmates, we aren't teenagers, this isn't Twitter or Facebook, and we have a strong belief that whatever you act like is however we'll treat you. This may seem harsh, but in time it should (hopefully) make sense to you.

Here's what you're going to do: You're going to Read More and Post Less. You're going to use the Search feature in the upper-right corner of your screen and you're going to read all of the Stickies at the top of each subforum. This will save you some grief in the long run and you'll learn a lot about this board, how we operate, and who we are.

Good luck.

One more thing, Mr. Gregory....We have several young men who have gone on to great things....guys like you who came here and were lost, confused, some were overweight, maybe underweight, but they learned. They took their beatings here, they listened, and they learned. They worked hard and kept their eyes on the prize. Some had medical or life issue that stood in the way. They overcame these or changed their plans, but they stayed with it and kept working.

On a narcissistic level as a guy whose prime is behind him, I want to believe that everytime one of those "kids" dons a beret, a scroll, a tab, some wings, enlists, deploys for the first time, takes a life, saves a life, drives a truck, packs a chute, whatever they are doing....I want to believe I somehow helped them to be there. Some word of wisdom, motivation, tough love, maybe a historical tidbit I posted or a story I linked to. To me, it doesn't matter as long as I helped that guy or gal go to, and stay in, the fight.

That matters to me and is one reason I'm here and I think our long term members will agree.

So, what you chose to do with our little corner of the Internet is up to you. We'll help you or hurt you...and we've done both over the years (more help than hurt I'm proud to say).

With that said, it's on all you now; Ball's in your court.

Good luck.

Welcome to the site. I'm going to send you a private message explaining the mixed reaction you're receiving here and what you can do to fix it.

So very well said, Free! This ^^, should be a sticky somewhere.

Welcome to SS.

I am a humble member of this site, and see the wealth of insight, and wisdom offered up; for the reasons Freefalling has stated. If you take it seriously, you will, likewise, be taken seriously. Make good use of your time here.
