I joined the Army Reserves out of High school, just wanted to earn the title - soldier. haha.... I am currently in college and I can't wait to get out and be a part of the SF group.

I went to basic to the 3/47 IN. Currently I am in slotted in a intel mos.

Welcome

Why are you laughing about earning the title of soldier? It's a proud and noble thing to be. Some of us have no other title and wear it proudly. We honor all who have earned it and don't think less of you if that is all you earn.

I thought it was funny that I was 17 when i signed up, and all i wanted to do was be in the Army. Nothing else, like mos or going active/reserves mattered. But well said ma'am, Roger.

Ace, while I'm not a fan of using Intro threads to beat up the new guys, I'm going to provide you with some perspective. Constructive criticism.

1) You communicate poorly. The inside joke of being a soldier "haha"...now I understand your point. Your initial post left a lot to be desired.
2) "Be a part of the SF group." What are you talking about? There are 7 Groups in all, 5 Active, 2 Guard, so there is no "the group." You are a Reservist, yes? Since there are no Reserve Groups, those went away in the 90's, are you going AD or transferring to the NG?
3) Continuing that theme, are you making a run at becoming an 18 series or being a support guy?
4) You are slotted for an Intel MOS. You've only completed Basic or you completed OSUT and hold an MOS like 11B while waiting to reclass?

As a former support guy, I can say that how you carry yourself means a lot in an SF Group. Food for thought.

Welcome.

Well I had only thought of going for the 18X with opt-40 in my contract (when I re-enlist), if possible. And I would definitely go AD. But, as for the "support guy", how does that work out. Is it like temporary duty for deployments and training exercises or can I be permanently stationed within an SF unit.
And yes I am waiting to attend AIT.

"18X with Option 40 in your contract?" That doesn't even exist. They are two separate animals.

I'm going to save you a lot of pain now: go do some reading. Search and search some more. Read old posts, new posts, etc. I honestly don't think you know how little you know. That isn't bad, you're essentially a clean slate, but you really, really need to do some reading before posting again. Scroll down and start goign through the different subfroums and sections and read, read, read.

Good luck.

There's 1000's of them busting their butts, going into harms way, and chewing the same dirt many of the top tier units have and are stellar individuals. And the very same have paid with their lives.

So now please enlighten me as to the humor you find funny in the title of "Soldier"

Welcome, but be proud of the title soldier. There are many people out there that will never have that much, and many who have given their lives under that title.
