First, thank you for accepting me into this forum; I am honored to be among such company.

As for my background, I am a former captain, USAF (1983-89), Weapon Systems Officer RF-4C with around 660 flight hours in the F-4. After leaving the Air Force I went to graduate school, eventually ending up with a doctorate in history and teaching in a university in Turkey.

I found Shadowspear while searching for material on Special Forces for an introductory military history class that I teach, and was hooked immediately.

Besides my interest in history, I am also interested in the languages and cultures of the regions from the Middle East to Central Asia.

I have a number of subjects that I would like to discuss with this group and look forward to learning from your experiences. If I there is anything any of you want to ask I would be happy to discuss it.

Thanks again!

Welcome to SS. Thanks for getting vetted, and your service. Ever fly in USAFE ? I spend a few years at a base that transitioned from F-4's to F-16's.

Thank you for your warm welcome. My unit would work out of Aviano on deployments, but I spent almost in entire career in Texas.

Welcome.

Thank you, and my condolences. You clearly loved her very much.

Thank you!

Welcome aboard, Sir.
Thank you, and I love your avatar - even in the academic world there are some who could use a good punch to the throat.

Awesome, I have always had a hard on for the F4.
Thanks - the F-4 was a rugged classic, but not shiny hi-tech (the cockpit looked more like the interior of my grandfather's old pick-up).

Thank you - I often worked with Marine aviators and have the highest respect for them and the Corps.
