Hello,
My name is Nick. I'm 24 years old from Portland, Maine. I joined the Navy and enlisted as an "Autoqual" for a NUC seat, with a goal of completing the Navy Warrior Challenge. I did my research and talked to a few friends who weren't experts, but still more informed than myself, and decided that the Navy EOD Technician was the best fit for me. I recently completed the PST and was awarded a EOD contract and am awaiting my ship date to go to basic.
I have always been a team player and competed at a high level in soccer my entire life, culminating in two collegiate All-American awards in my final seasons. I have been training for the tests and regular regional mentor sessions both alone and with a group of candidates from my home state. But I am sure I will have questions on how to meet training specific goals that can be answered by other members.
My Fitness level is on par with room to improve, where my diving skills are my problem area at the moment. I am very comfortable in the water and catch on quickly, but having no formal dive training leaves me unfamiliar with the equipment, which is my main hurdle at the moment. I am currently finding a balance between short explosive training, long and constant training, and equipment familiarization training.
I have been looking forward to basic, and working with the Dive Motivators. I'm looking forward to a long and rewarding career in the military but I have not lost sight of the fact that I am a long ways away and there will be many challenges between now and the day that I get to give back to my country.
I have many questions about both the job and community it is associated with. I know how to search the forums but I wont be afraid to ask any questions I have that haven't been answered already!

Thank you all, and I look forward to speaking with you at some point in the future.
