George Orwell once wrote, "We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." While I may not be one of those men, I only have the utmost respect for those of you who are.

In '89-90, I was accepted into the NROTC program at a University near Va Beach. I was lucky enough to spend some time with some guys who were on the teams at Little Creek Amphib base. I had planned to go that route following graduation, but a severe injury caused me to DOR from the ROTC program. I was able to intern with a local PD through college and get some experience on the water as part of the Dive Team and SAR teams.

Longer story short, I graduated with dual degrees in Criminology/ Criminal Justice and went on to get my Masters in Education and became a high school teacher. I guess what they say, "...those who can, do, and those who can't, teach" rings true for me. I'm currently a history teacher and will be leading a new program in Homeland Security this fall.

I'm here because I still have a love to train, whether it's personal defense or simply to point rounds down range. But, with this program I'll be leading this fall I'll need some opinions, thoughts, and ideas to get across the real world implications of what the students will be learning. You folks have seen it and lived it and I value your experience. This will be a hands-on course and I plan to teach it as such.

Sorry for the long intro, but you know where I stand. Thanks.
